Good Tuesday morning!
I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Labor Day weekend! Will and I are back in NC after our extended weekend trip to California.
Goodness y’all, I can’t even begin to describe how great this trip was for us. As a matter of fact, it will probably go down has our best ‘bucket list’ check off for 2017.
I’m dying to share all the details with you all of where we explored, ate, and stayed. Instead of writing a novel for one blog post, I’ll start you guys off with the first 24 hours in which we spent in San Francisco.
Our plane touched down in San Francisco Thursday around 12:30pm, allowing plenty of daytime to see the city. After picking up our luggage and rental car we headed straight for our hotel. We stayed at the Kimpton Sir Frances Drake hotel, located right in the middle of Union Square. It was the most ideal location for everything we wanted to do and see.Once we checked into our dreamy room at the Sir Frances Drake, we immediately searched for lunch. Luckily, Union Square is surrounded by delicious food options.
I never felt cramped in our room, which I feel says a lot for a city hotel room in a downtown location. The walk-in closet was definitely a plus for storing our (my) luggage 🙂
I couldn’t get over all of the details and architecture that went into the design of the Sir Frances Drake. Every time I walked through the front entrance, I found myself ‘oooing and ahhing’ over the decor.
After walking around downtown a bit, it was time to head to AT&T ballpark to watch the Giants play… and the gorgeous sunset over the bay.
If you’re ever in San Francisco, I highly recommend visiting AT&T park — whether you’re a baseball fan or not.
After a little baseball, a great night’s rest, and an excellent brunch at Honey Honey, we were off for a day of checking off our San Fran must-see list. Of course, top of list list for myself was Ghiradelli Square.
The other few items that we were able to check-off were:
–The Painted Ladies… and the real Full House house.
-Drive down Lombard Street
–Fisherman’s Wharf
-Drive across the Golden Gate Bridge
-Walk through Golden Gate Park
Since we were visiting over a holiday weekend, we knew hitting the road at a decent hour for Monterey would be wise. Two spots we couldn’t quite squeeze in were Muir Woods and Alcatraz Island. I guess that just means we will have to make another trip out to SF sooner rather than later!California truly is a unique and beautiful state. Will and I cannot say enough great things about the trip we were able to take. Guess what though? This was just the first 24 hours we were able to spend in the state! Keep following along over the next few weeks to see what else we were up to while cruising up and down “The 1“.
A huge thank you to Kimpton Sir Frances Drake for hosting us while we were in San Francisco. All thoughts and writing are my own.
