A few weekends ago I road tripped to Washington D.C. with my girlfriends, Meghan, Angela, and Glory. I mentioned this trip a few times on Instagram and even in a recent post where I talked about our road trip’s halfway point, Richmond, VA. The time we spent in D.C. was definitely a weekend to remember. We wined and dined, explored the monuments, and even attended a workshop with 30 other bloggers from the east coast. It was a non-stop weekend with good friends, food, and education. What more could you ask for while traveling to our nation’s capital? We drove straight from Richmond to The Kimpton Glover Park Hotel. Checking in here was such a nice, warm welcome to D.C. As soon as I walked in the front door to see the urban decor with gold accents, complimentary detox water, and guests walking with their dogs, I knew this boutique hotel was going to be one of my top favorite places I’ve stayed. Beyond the walls of the fabulous Glover Park Hotel was Georgetown shopping and only few miles further was Downtown D.C. I’m sure most of you know that D.C. traffic is no joke. It was so nice being a short drive away from the memorials, monuments, The White House, etc. We truly lucked out with a 70-degree winter weekend. The weather made for an even more enjoyable time exploring the city. We stopped to snap a few photos at the Lincoln Memorial. This moment was so neat, because it happened to be Lincoln’s birthday weekend.See the outfit I wore while exploring Washington D.C. here. After a long day of travel, work, and play it was great to come ‘home’ to Glover Park for dinner at its adjoining restaurant, Casolare. We shared several antipasti – mama zecca’s eggplant was my fave! For our main course we ordered a few pizzas and pasta for the table. I’m all about sharing dishes while dining at a new restaurant. I feel like this is the best way to really experience what the restaurant has to offer. It’s not often that I can say I had the best night sleep while away from home. I think the combination of the memory foam mattress, room darkening shades, and my super soft pjs from Vera Bradley allowed me to sleep like a baby. As if dinner from the night before wasn’t enough, we ordered breakfast room service from Casolare. I would die a happy women if I could wake up every morning to their homemade granola, yogurt, and berries.
