Good morning and happy Friday eve! This week has absolutely flown by. Right now the buzz around town is about SNOW here on Sunday. We shall see if the weather man’s forecast is correct. After 75 degree spring-like days, I’m hoping not 😉
Today, I’m excited to share with you all the details of my stay in Richmond, VA while traveling to D.C. recently with my girlfriends Meghan, Angela, and Glory. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and left fairly early Saturday morning in order to make it on time to The Blog Societies’ workshop in downtown D.C. In true blogger fashion, we girls packed as much as we could into the quick 16 hours we had in Richmond. Although our stay was gone in a blink of an eye, the small taste of this city was enough to make me want to come back for more!
So, without further ado, here is a recap of our girl’s night in Richmond…
STAY – The Linden Row Inn
This quaint inn was perfection for us girls. Meghan, the history gal of our group, suggested the Linden Row after a previous stay she had with her husband. The original buildings were built in the mid-1800s. The bones of this place definitely have some serious history. Our room was on the 4th floor with a private entrance off the balcony. The room was very spacious, which was great for 4 women traveling… because we all know us ladies don’t travel lightly :). The images below are of our room, the peaceful courtyard, and other surrounding areas of the inn.
EAT – Max’s on Broad for dinner Friday night
Ya’ll, this place was amazing. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by the hostesses, we felt very welcomed. Our waitress was absolutely fabulous. She recommended my meal and it was to die for. I haven’t had a meal quite this memorable in a while. So, hats off to the chef, waitstaff, and management at Max’s on Broad, because you’re killing it.
EAT – Urban Farmhouse Cafe for brunch Saturday
This cute little cafe was connected to The Linden Row. After checking out of our room, we moseyed down to the Urban Farmhouse. We each ordered our caffeine fix and breakfast sandwich. Thank goodness we were able to order our breakfast to-go, because we had to hit the road for D.C.
WEAR – Dress from The Mint Julep Boutique for drinks and dinner.
The Mint Julep Boutique is one of my top favorite boutiques for online shopping. Back in the fall I introduced this shop to you all here and here. This dress I’m wearing was one of my first spring purchases. Right now it is on sale for under $30. I have my eye on some of their new arrivals also. Especially dresses like this one. Really anything from The Mint Julep you can’t go wrong with because it’s so cute and affordable.
WEAR – Dress from J.Jill to explore the city
Who knew that J.Jill had cute and SUCH comfortable clothes?! I’m so thankful Angela introduced me to the misses section at J. Jill, because their items are practical and did I mention comfortable?! Sorry, y’all know how I am about comfy outfits and even more so when I’m traveling. If you are wanting to purchase anything from J. Jill, then I would suggest to size down. Typically I wear a size small/medium dress. Everything I ordered was XS and fits great.
DRIVE – Toyota RAV4
We drove a 2017 Toyota RAV4 while on our road trip. It was actually the best car for us four girls. The trunk space was pretty roomy for being a smaller SUV. All of our luggage fit without being overcrowded. I think the selling point for me while driving the RAV4 was the gas mileage. We only filled up ONCE the entire trip. Once my beloved car (that I’ve driven for 8.5 years!) hits the dust, I’m sure the Toyota RAV4 will be at the top of my wish list.
Like I said above, this trip was short but it was oh so sweet. I can’t wait to head back soon for what will hopefully be a little longer stay. I’m dying to explore Maymont and to experience all that Carytown has to offer.
Have any of you ever been to Richmond, VA? If so, what do you recommend while visiting here?
