As as Closet Consultant and Personal Stylist, I enjoy seeing ladies try the capsule wardrobe trend. I’ll be honest, I don’t think I would love a wardrobe that followed this trend throughout each season. However, if split up into separate seasons, I might would give it a try.
What I love most about this idea is: simplicity. Who here is guilty of conforming to the average American consumerist mindset of “the more the better”? (*Insert girl raising hand emoji here*) Yes, I personally struggle with this issue. “More what?” you may ask? More…EVERYTHING! I always want what is on trend for the season or the latest version of an item. Because of this, I’ve come up with the #1 rule for myself to follow when deciding to add the latest and greatest item to my closet: When something new enters, then something old must leave. — This helps keep things organized and avoid accumulating too many things I once thought were must-haves.
Tired of what’s in your closet but not sure how to update it? Follow this guide I’ve provided on how to make 6 pieces into 9 outfits. I like to think of it as my own personal twist to the capsule wardrobe trend.
1 Belt: Woven Gold Buckle
Now, for even more outfit inspiration meet my beautiful friend Haley from Vest Dressed blog! Haley and I know each other from taking dance classes growing up. This past year she graduated and moved to Cali. She is pursuing a second degree in merchandising and marketing at the Fashion Institute in LA. To give us East Coasters a little taste of the top trends in LA, continue reading what Haley has to say below!
In LA it is all about lacing-up everything possible from shirts to skirts to shoes. I personally love lace-up shoes! The lace-up trend is so popular because it is new and unexpected! It adds spice instantly to any outfit.
All About Necks
Even though it is still not too cold in LA (and by that I mean I’m still sweating my butt off at 90 degrees) everyone seems to be obsessed with necks! Whether it be turtle necks, tie neck shirts, or scarfs, necks are a major focus for this fall in LA.
Mid-Calf Booties are a rather newer trend I have been seeing around town. They are right in between the ankle bootie and the knee-high boot. A lot of celebrities have been spotted in these as well, such as new style icon Kendal Jenner.
I hope you all can bring some of these trending LA items to the east coast to keep you Vest Dressed!
